The glass manufacture in Svetla nad Sazavou has a long tradition, dating back to the 1861 by founding the first grinding manufactory, which was supplied with glass from nearby metallurgical works, and after ten years of operation employed about 80 people. Bohemia Glass Company continues with the tradition with the foundation stone in 1967 under the leadership of the national investor company Glassworks Bohemia Podebrady. The test operation began in 1970 and three years later the building was completed. After the 1989 there were a lot of changes, which on 1st January 1994 led to the creation of Bohemia Glass Inc.
The production program included hundreds types of glass as household or drinking glass, produced manually or automatically, by pressing and blowing, with no cut and cut. Great attention was paid to the traditional manual production and classical grinding, the biggest development, however, was achieved in the development of automated manufacturing, which are developed until today. Up to 80% of the total production was destined for export to all over the world, particularly to countries with developed market economy.
In the 2009, the company was acquired by CRYSTALITE BOHEMIA, Ltd. The re-ignition furnace under a new company was in 2nd October 2009th by running three automated lines for production of gift glass and household production. CRYSTALITE BOHEMIA, Ltd. follows the traditional glass production of Bohemia Glass Company. On July 12, 2009 have started another line for stemware.
